So this is why.........

the idle was so high all the sudden! This is what's left of the intake gaskets! These are the cheap paper ones!

looks like someone has chewed on the thing with some piers.........Before...

I figure while it's off, might as well get it shined up! Off to American Bright Works for a very quick                        massage....this is it 4 hours later.....After.......
While lookin at the gasket surfaces, I noticed some pitting. So I resurfaced both sides of the gasket surface..... Before........
                                                                                     After........
as soon as the rain stops, I can get back to work on it and show ya it on the bike! Stay tuned!!!

New to the triumph game, how did the chewed up gasket affect the idle. Too much air, did a piece of the gasket get into something or some thing totally different.

Howzit Clancy!?! Yep, to much air (intake leak) These pre-units have a cast iron head (older models) and the older gaskets are paper which over time makes the gasket brittle and brake over time. They make really good gaskets for them now. Then even make gaskets for Triumphs where there were no gaskets! RAD!
